As part of the Afghanistan troop surge, Task Force Duke, 3rd BDE, 1st Infantry Division, was assigned the most difficult task in Afghanistan - the dismantling of the Pakistan-backed Haqqani Network in the eastern mountains of Afghanistan until surge troops in the south could be redirected to the north east. Filmmaker JD Johannes spent two months in Khost province Afghanistan going on missions with the Soldiers of Task Force Duke as they tracked the most dangerous insurgent group in Afghanistan. Task Force Duke, with less combat power and more territory to cover than other surge brigades, maximized their forces with complex missions deep into Haqqani support zones and coordination with US and Afghan special forces. Task Force Duke's piece by piece dismantling of the Haqqani network is proving the decisive operation as the Government of Afghanistan directly confronts Pakistan.
Join us the evening of November 16 as filmmaker JD Johannes discusses his time with Task Force Duke in the Khost Province and shows footage that he recorded.
