Robert Shadley

Scope of Collection

Most of General Shadley’s collection consists of documents that he wrote. There are several after action reports, daily logs, and OPLANs/OPORDs that he wrote during and after Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. These provide information of how General Shadley ran his Division Support Command during the war. There are also field manuals, maps and other military documents that are also from his command during that conflict. Additionally, there are several field manuals that are not written by Shadley that come from either other officers that served in Desert Storm or Desert Shield or by historians. His collection gives an overview of how Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield were executed and the challenges each unit had to overcome during the conflict. There are also several magazines, both military and civilian, and newspapers in his collection that are from the Gulf War period as well. Those documents provide how the media and public were dealing with war, as well as individual soldiers.
