June 23, 1965: Advance party of the 1st Infantry Division lands at Qui Nhon, Republic of South Vietnam.

July 12, 1965: The 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division lands at Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam.

July 17, 1965: First hostile contact leads to first killed in action from the Division.

July 22, 1965: The Division undertakes first offensive operation at Bien Hoa.

August 11, 1965: 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division undertakes the first major combat operation, Operation Barracuda.

November 12, 1965: Battle of Ap Bau Bang.

December 5, 1965: The Battle of Ap Nha Mat.
