“November 11, 1918. The Germans have till 11 o’clock this date to decide. The Huns have accepted the terms set forth for an armistice. The fires are burning to beat the band tonight, cars have their lights on full blast, boys are burning captured Hun powder. November 12. The boys are all feeling good after the good news. They are singing and shooting flares, have fires that set the skies a glare. November 13. First news of the abdication of the Kaiser reached us today, he fled to Holland, peace said to be in sight. The boys woke up with a yell this morning.”
