Pfc. Vernon L. Scobie

“September 30, 1918. Arrived in woods near Forbourt. Sure was tired and soon fell asleep. October 1. Rested and traveled in evening to the front. Saw a aeroplane and a observation balloon come down. October 2. Went to A.E.F. dressing station at Sharpentuy and we established a gas and slightly wounded station. Sure were a lot of gas patients. We got shelled pretty bad. October 3. Worked in aid station. Lots of gassed, wounded. The infantry advanced so we were out of the range of the small guns. October 8. Went to the front line as litter bearers. Went to 18 Inf. and littered all day. October 11. Lots of prisoners & wounded. October 13. Infantry advance farther. October 14. Was relieved and slept near a road.”
