Mopping Up
At dawn on May 28th, after an hour’s artillery preparation, the 28th Infantry, assisted by Feench tanks and a detachment of French flame throwers, assaulted and captured the village. There was hand to hand fighting in and among the shattered buildings, but the final objective was reacehd on schedule time and two hundred and thrity prisoners were captured. Holding the village against seven counter attacks during the next three days was a far greater task than its capture. From Cpt. Alban B.
