“Now I think that the 28th Regt. of the 1st Division
has established for all time the fighting abilities of the American Soldier. In the attacks of Cantigny and Soissons the 1st Division men knew that everything depended on them. The reputation of the American Army depended absolutely on our success or failure and we saluted the old flag where she belongs.”
