Through the Wheat

The timely arrival of German motorized machine gun battalions enabled the enemy to consolidate a formidable line of resistance beyond the Paris-Soissons road. The infantry fought their way forward without assistance from the tanks, which, by then, had all been knocked out by direct hits from enemy field guns.
