Pas De Gaz

The Germans retaliated by firing on sensitive points during the night just when the rations were being carried forward. So rigid had been the “gas discipline” that the arrival of a few duds, sounding to the inexperienced ear like gas shells, caused many a false alarm. In every position there was always a gas sentry whose duty it was to sound the alarm and send up a green rocket.
