Entrenching Tool
The Model 1910 entrenching tool can be credited with the digging of many a trench and dug-out during World War I. It’s small size made carrying it on the back of a soldier’s pack quite simple as well as easy to reach in times of need, enabling a soldier to dig in for cover from enemy fire. Protecting the head of the tool is a khaki colored canvas sheath. “U.S.” has been stamped on the top side of the metal socket holding the tool together as well as on the shaft.
